9th August, 2020, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam – Outdoor enthusiasts and off-road adventure junkies are in for a treat this year, as Indera Motors recently introduced its legendary all-new Defender into the Bruneian market.
First launched back in the 1940s, the British icon is designed to rove the land in whatever terrain, regardless of conditions.
Yet the new Defender is also packed full of cutting-edge technology and innovative features that make getting to remote corners of the world possible.
The new Defender is the toughest vehicle ever made. Evolving the all-aluminum monocoque to its strongest ever design – this makes it safe, tough, light, package efficient, aerodynamic, capable, engaging and fun to drive.
Just for the public to have an up close up and personal with the beast, the sole distributor of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in the sultanate hosted a two-day event at their showroom in Beribi.
Commanding with a strong presence on the road with a boxy proportion and a menacing presence, the Defender remains one of the world’s most recognisable four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Its design is a bridge between the elegance of Range Rover and the family-oriented, Discovery.
On the inside, the spacious Defender is a great place to be. This vehicle is definitely comfortable for long road-trips with the whole family. Passengers are treated to a comfortable and modern-looking cabin with plenty of leg space.
The Defender has major tech inside its luxurious cabin. It is the first vehicle from JLR that comes equipped with the all-new Privi Pro infotainment system that features a 10-inch touchscreen display in the centre of the dashboard, and on an all-digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
Moreover, the Pivi Pro uses interface and menu systems that are user-friendly and intuitive, so it responds more quickly than before.
Other notable optional features, the SUV boasts a wireless charging pad for your phone, premium cabin lighting to suit your mood and a front centre console refrigerator compartment, among others.
As you would expect from the British brand, Land Rover has gone up a notch with the latest safety and state-of-the-art technology, which features their signature 3D surround cameras which includes ClearSight Ground View, 360-degree Parking Aid, Wade Sensing, Clear Sight Rear View Mirror and Head-up Display.
Other safety and driving aid feature Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Assist, Clear Exit Monitor, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist and many more.
The rugged Defender complements luxury accommodations with agile handling and a powerful engine.
Under the bonnet lies a 3.0-litre Inline 6 Turbocharged Petrol, 400PS developing 400 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque with 0-100km/h acceleration in 6.1 seconds.
Capable of great things, the Defender is engineered for both off-road and on-road.
Driving from the showroom to the Beribi Industrial area, even in its most relaxed mode, there was ample torque at the ready, and the acceleration was smooth and constant.
Moreover, the brakes are strong, and the pedal felt is excellent.
The Defender shows remarkable body control over potholes and tight curves with its cushioned ride quality which is hands-down its best attribute.
In a challenging situation, such as sand, muddy areas, Defender’s engineered durability is twice that of any other Land Rover, built on a platform that can withstand repeated, sustained impacts and has been tested to the extreme.
Enduring and capable, it is a legend on seven continents for challenging expeditions and humanitarian support.
